Creative Script Consultation
At Maxwell Health and Psychology we offer creative script consultation for writers who are developing stories about characters living with mental illness. This is a non clinical service for storytellers who want thoughtful guidance on accuracy, nuance, and ethical portrayal without entering therapy.
Our consultation focuses on helping you shape characters, dialogue, and situations that reflect real world experience while avoiding harmful stereotypes. We can talk through symptom presentation and help you find language that feels authentic and respectful. We can also suggest approaches to scenes involving assessment, crisis response, hospital admission, or therapy so that they ring true on the page. Where relevant we discuss consent, privacy, content notes, and practical pathways to support that may be depicted within your story world.
Consultations are available face to face in our Leichhardt rooms or via Telehealth. If you prefer written feedback, we can provide detailed notes on pages or treatments with clear suggestions that you can apply at your own pace.
Our team brings clinical training and a background in the arts, with current doctoral research on theatre techniques in trauma treatment. This blend of experience means we understand both psychological practice and the creative pressures of development, rehearsal, and production timelines.
Please note that creative script consultation is distinct from psychological therapy. It does not involve assessment, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not eligible for Medicare rebates.
